This report presents the findings and policy implications of Barbados’ first Health Accounts estimation, conducted for the year April 2012 to March 2013. It captures spending from all sources: the government, non-governmental organizations, external donors, private employers, private insurance companies and households.
Worldwide, health systems are being asked to do more with less. In many countries, donor funds have stagnated or are declining. Policymakers can influence public and private health spending to improve efficiency, quality, equity, and expand access to life-saving health services.
