Launch of the Legislative Network for Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria

Agenda

Objectives of the Summit

The overall objective of the Summit is to launch a national Legislative Network on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to effectively leverage statutory functions of parliament for improved health financing towards UHC in Nigeria. The following are specific objectives of the conference:

  1. To acquaint participants with existing legislative, institutional and policy frameworks towards improved statutory legislative functions in health care financing reforms in Nigeria
  2. To reach a common understanding of strategies to leverage Legislative roles in appropriation, legislation, accountability, representation, and oversight towards achieving UHC.
  3. To initiate the process of sustained UHC-related peer learning among state lawmakers, and their federal counterparts
  4. To outline a road-map of specific actions that the lawmakers will undertake to successfully operationalize the network and transform it into a National Health Assembly
